New Directions Aromatics specializes in offering a variety of Essential Oils and Raw Materials to Cosmetic Making Industries. We carry a wide range of Organic products that are certified by Quality Assurance International (QAI), the leading organic certifying body in North America, and accredited by the USDA National Organic Program (NOP). Our line of Certified Organic Products includes Essential Oils and Carrier Oils, as well as Soap Bases, Cosmetic Bases, Candle Waxes, Fragrant Oils, Vegetable/Carrier Oils, Butters, Botanical Extracts, Clays, Muds and Mineral Salts.

Our facilities, spanning over 75,000 feet, are equipped with a laboratory using state-of-the-art gas chromatography to rigorously test the veracity of the purity and potency of our sourced oils. This ensures that our customers are always supplied with superior products. We value transparency and building trusting relationships with our clientele. Therefore, our QAI Organic Certificate is available on our website for viewing.

What does it mean for a product to be organic?

According to QAI, organic refers to produce and other ingredients that are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, sewage sludge, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), or ionizing radiation.

Organic production systems are managed to respond to site-specific conditions. This means integrating cultural, biological, and mechanical practices that generate resource cycling, promote ecological balance, and restore biodiversity.

Companies that handle or process organic ingredients before they reach the production site must also be certified.

What are the requirements for organic personal care products?

For personal care products such as cosmetics, rinse-off and leave-on formulas, and personal hygiene products, QAI provides organic certification through the USDA National Organic Program (NOP), as well as through NSF/ANSI 305: Personal Care Products Containing Organic Ingredients.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) does not define or regulate the term "organic" in regards to cosmetics, body care, or personal care products.

Instead, the USDA regulates the term "organic" regarding the agricultural products through the National Organic Program (NOP).

A cosmetic, body care product, or personal care product must meet the USDA/NOP organic product, handling, processing, and labeling standards for its agricultural ingredients in order to be eligible for certification under the NOP regulations.

The operations that produce the organic agricultural ingredients, as well as the handlers and manufacturer of the final product must all be certified by a USDA-accredited organic certifying body.
