Fennel, often referred to as Common Fennel, is a perennial herb originally from southern Europe and the Mediterranean. The herb typically stands at around 4.5 feet and boasts fragrant yellow flowers. In the Middle Ages, folks called it 'Fenkle,' coming from the Latin 'Foenum,' meaning 'hay.' The Fennel crop was believed to bring long life, courage, and strength while keeping evil spirits at bay.
