While it dissolves in oil, it only slightly dissolves in water, allowing it to float. As a long-chain fatty acid, Stearic Acid—also known as Octadecanoic Acid due to its 18-carbon chain—is a principal component of both Cocoa and Shea butter. It works harmoniously with other fatty acids to support and nourish the skin, contributing to a smooth, velvety texture in skin care products. Stearic Acid also forms a protective barrier on the skin, helping to retain moisture and maintain hydration.

DIRECTIONS AND SUGGESTED USAGE

• Lotions and Face Creams: Add 2-5% Stearic Acid to the oil phase of your formulation and heat until fully melted. Incorporate it into your emulsions to enhance thickness and texture, resulting in a rich, luxurious feel.

• Bar Soaps, Cleansers, and Detergents: Stearic Acid can be added to soap and detergent formulations to act as a thickener and hardener. Melt 0.5% Stearic Acid along with the other fats and oils in your formulation. Its surfactant properties will help to ensure a stable emulsion, enhancing the product's effectiveness and shelf life.

• Paraffin Candles: Stearic Acid acts as a hardener, enabling the production of longer-lasting candles. Add 3-5% Stearic Acid to melted paraffin wax and mix thoroughly. Its inclusion will cause the wax to shrink as it cools, facilitating easy release from molds and enhancing the opacity and vibrancy of added dyes.
