Steam Distillation is the most popular method used to extract and isolate essential oils from plant parts such as flowers, leaves, barks, herbs, fruits, and spices. The isolation process begins with the plant material being introduced to steam, which vaporizes the plant material's volatile compounds. These vaporized compounds eventually go through a condensation process in which they are turned back into liquids. This is followed by the collection process in which the aromatic essential oils are separated from the water.
